Is it true
that only Purdue Extension Service can provide the pesticide recertification
programs?
Purdue extension educators are responsible
for submitting programs for approval. The extension educator oversees
program content, completion of attendance sheets, and collection
of fees.
Will everyone
who attends a pesticide recertification program have to pay $10?
Only those who want credit for recertification
(sign the attendance sheet) will be required to pay for the program.
The extension educator sponsoring the program can decide to charge
other attendees. Refunds will not be given if a grower/farmer
pays for more than three pesticide recertification programs in
five years.
Can someone
other than the individual grower/farmer pay the $10 program fee?
Yes, the purpose of the fee is to
cover the cost of administering the program. The source of the
$10 fee is not important.
Can a private
industry put on a pesticide recertification program for private
applicators?
Extension educators are in charge
of the program and can work with any business or person. It might
be important for extension educators to develop an internal policy
about how many programs they will sponsor during any given year,
or how they will rotate over the years among the businesses that
want to assist.
How many pesticide
recertification programs can be attended in a year?
A maximum of two recertification
programs per year can be credited toward recertification, one
of which can be an online program. Additional programas can be attended
but you will not receive credit and do not need to pay the $10
program fee.
Must I go
to programs in my county?
No. You can attend a program anywhere in the state.
How do I know
when and where recertification programs will be held?
County extension educators will likely notify private applicators
in their county of upcoming programs they are holding. You can
also check the private applicator website, go to program
schedule. You can also call the Program Line phone service
and listen to the recorded listing of approved programs, 1-800/319-3090.
I can't remember
how many programs I've attended. Is there anyway to find out?
Program receipts are given at the program. They are you're personal
record of program attendance. You can also check the website,
go to Private
Applicator Records. Attendance can also be verified by calling
the Purdue Pesticide Programs 1-800-319-3090.
